The secret behind the tea benefits are the antioxidants. In fact, they are naturally formed in our body or by the action of toxins – molecules called free radicals – when these attack the genetic heritage or the cells can cause health problems or premature aging. To reduce the damage, our body produces molecules called antioxidants; food is also an excellent source of antioxidants. Fruits and vegetables are among the richest, because they provide vitamins E, C and beta-carotene that have anti free radicals properties.
Tea is rich in flavonoids that have antioxidant effects. According to some studies, the work of flavonoids is more effective than C and E vitamins in the fight against the free radicals. Green tea Sencha is a high quality Japanese tea; this tea is steam dryed after being carefully chosen. This method enables the plant to keep all its flavour and its aromatic qualities and destroys efficiently the enzyme responsible for the tea leaf oxidation. Very vegetable, its taste has iodine notes.
Green tea Sencha has a high concentration of polyphenols. These polyphenols are antioxidants and their role is to fight free radicals. A cup of green tea contains 30mg of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), thus having antioxidant properties 200 times higher than E vitamin.
